Volunteer Coordinator - Alzheimer Calgary

Since 1982, the Alzheimer Society of Calgary has been helping people impacted by Dementia and Alzheimer. Our Vision and Mission are to enable local people impacted by dementia to live life well and build the capacity of the community to support and care for them.

Consider joining us at the Alzheimer Society of Calgary, where shared values and fresh ideas meet the ambition, energy, and encouragement to move them forward. We’re searching for the right person to join us part-time (0.6 FTE) as the Volunteer Coordinator. Where possible, we will work with your schedule to accommodate this 0.6 FTE role.

The Volunteer Coordinator will report to the Director of Finance and will work closely with all functional areas of Alzheimer Calgary. The successful candidate will have a positive mission driven attitude, exceptional relationship building skills, enjoy working with a team, and have the ability to multi-task and set priorities. The successful candidate will value and appreciate the important role that volunteers bring to an organization and recognize the integral role you play in the success of Alzheimer Calgary.

In your role, you will recruit and select volunteers, train and supervise volunteers, promote volunteerism and complete administrative tasks to manage and evaluate the volunteer program. You know how to connect the right people to the right roles and motivate others to do their best. You will be meticulous about keeping records and passionate about volunteer work.

Our ideal person

Minimum of two (2) years coordinating volunteer programs.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Experience in Better Impact or another volunteer management system is an asset.
Knowledge of dementia and related issues would be an asset
Ability to build and establish relationships with staff and community
Ability to manage multiple projects, set priorities and meet strict deadlines
Highly self-motivated and community oriented
Superior organization and administrative skills
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
Excellent observation, communication and problem-solving skills.
