- At this time this opportunity is scheduled for 8-hour shifts
As the successful applicant, you will do the following:
- Conduct preoperative assessments and prepare patients for surgery.
- Educate patients on the surgical process, recovery expectations, and postoperative care.
- Monitor and assess patients recovering from anesthesia in the PACU.
- Manage vital signs, oxygenation, pain control, and patient comfort.
- Identify and respond to postoperative complications as needed.
- Collaborate with surgical and anesthesia teams to support safe patient recovery.
- Assess patient readiness for discharge, including evaluating vital signs, pain levels, and overall condition.
- Provide discharge teaching on wound care, medications, follow-up care, and signs of potential complications.
- Support and educate patients and families throughout the surgical journey.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to maintain patient safety and high standards of care.
What You’ll Bring
Required
- Current Certificate of Registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Minimum of two year of recent critical care nursing experience
- Current BCLS and ACLS certification
- PACU Certificate (or to obtain within 6 months of hire)
- Critical Care or Emergency Department Certification
Preferred
- Knowledge of current NAPAN standards
