King Animal Hospital is seeking compassionate, dependable, and motivated Animal Care Attendants to join our Emergency Services team.
As an Animal Care Attendant in Emergency Services, you will work alongside Emergency Veterinarians, Veterinary Specialists, Registered Veterinary Technicians, and fellow support staff to care for critically ill and injured patients. From supporting emergency procedures to providing comfort and monitoring for hospitalized patients, your role is an essential part of the patient care team.
This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy learning, working collaboratively, and being part of a team that provides life-saving care when patients need it most.
Compensation
- Base wage: $19.00–$22.00 per hour
- Emergency Services Premium: 15% of base wage
- Overnight Premium: $1.00 per hour for night shifts
Equivalent earnings range from approximately $21.85–$26.30 per hour, including applicable premiums.

Responsibilities
- Assist with the care and monitoring of emergency and hospitalized patients
- Support veterinarians and RVTs with patient handling and restraint
- Assist with admissions, transfers, and patient movement throughout the hospital
- Observe patients and report changes in behaviour, comfort, or condition
- Feed, water, walk, and provide enrichment for patients as directed
- Record observations accurately in electronic medical records
- Maintain clean and organized treatment, patient care, and support areas
- Clean and disinfect cages, kennels, treatment spaces, equipment, dishes, and laundry according to hospital protocols
- Assist with stocking supplies and maintaining department readiness
- Support a collaborative and compassionate patient care environment
What We're Looking For
- ACA certification or equivalent animal care experience
- Minimum one year of experience in a veterinary clinic, animal hospital, shelter, boarding facility, or similar animal care environment
- Strong interest in emergency and critical patient care
- Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Excellent observation and attention to detail
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding work
- Commitment to compassionate patient care and continuous learning
- Previous emergency, referral, or specialty hospital experience is considered an asset
Schedule
This position follows a rotating schedule of:
2 Day Shifts → 2 Night Shifts → 5 Days Off
Shifts:
Day 1: 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Day 2: 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Night 1: 7:30 p.m. to 7 a.m.
Night 2: 7:30 p.m. to 7 a.m.
This schedule provides extended periods of time off while supporting 24/7 patient care.
Location
King Animal Hospital is located in King City, Ontario.
Because our hospital is not accessible by public transit, applicants must have reliable personal transportation.
