Our team of arts educators guides performers of all ages through engaging programs built on performing arts fundamentals (singing, acting, and dancing) to help them build skills, including confidence, collaboration, public speaking, and much more.

About the Job
Are you passionate about dance and love working with children? TADA: Theatre Arts & Dance Academy is seeking a dynamic and engaging dance teacher to join our team! We're looking for someone to inspire and nurture the next generation of performers by teaching group musical theatre classes for students 4-18. The right candidate could also work with our Musical Theatre Troupe Program, comprised of students with years of dance training. Every year the troupe prepares one junior musical production, for performance in June.
This position is for a dance teacher role, responsible for co-teaching classes alongside a vocal teacher. You will play a key role in shaping our students' development, confidence, and love for performance.
There are also opportunities to develop and deliver your own workshops at our studio.
Alongside teaching, we offer ongoing mentorship, and professional development sessions.
Key Details:
- Location: Our studio is located by Woodbine Ave. and Dension St.
- Hours: Classes take place throughout the week. Monday - Friday, we offer evening classes. On Saturday and Sunday, classes will run morning until evening.
- Compensation: $30-45/hr, depending on experience.
- Transportation: Access to a vehicle is an asset but not required. The studio is accessible by TTC.
- Co-Teaching Environment: Group classes are co-led with a movement/dance teacher.
- Term Length: Classes run during the school year, September - December, and January - June. The fall semester will conclude with a showcase, while the spring semester culminates with our yearly musical production. There will be an opportunity for summer teaching at our camps and trial classes.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Choreograph and teach dance routines to children in a fun, engaging, and age-appropriate manner.
- Participate in training sessions and shadow-teach alongside current instructors to learn our approach and curriculum.
- Guide students through warm-ups, basic dance techniques, and performance preparation.
- Support end-of-term showcases, and yearly musical production to highlight student performances.
- Support events like music festivals, community performances, and other special projects.
- Collaborate with vocal teachers to deliver a comprehensive musical theatre experience.
- Foster a positive and encouraging environment to help students grow their confidence and skills.
Qualifications:
- Comprehensive training in dance across multiple styles (eg ballet, jazz, musical theatre).
- Experience choreographing dances in the musical theatre style.
- Experience teaching children and/or group dance classes.
- Ability to manage multiple age groups.
- Strong collaboration and team player skills.
- Experience with sound design, lighting and stage managing are extremely valuable assets.
- Passion for musical theatre and working with young performers.
- Social Media and Marketing skills are considered an asset.
- CPR/First Aid and Vulnerable Sector Check are considered an asset.
