Elementary Homeroom Teacher (Primary and Junior Division)

Sathya Sai School of Toronto is an independent elementary school (JK–Grade 8) that operates in accordance with the Ontario Ministry of Education's requirements for private schools. The school offers a structured academic program with clear expectations, high student engagement, and a supportive parent community. The school has consistently received a 10/10 rating from the Fraser Institute since 2006.
We are seeking an Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) for a homeroom position within the Junior Division. The successful candidate will deliver the Ontario curriculum across core subject areas and maintain a well-organized, focused classroom environment.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver instruction in Language, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies aligned with the Ontario curriculum
- Deliver Arts as part of the core program.
- Develop student skills in reading comprehension, written communication, and mathematical problem-solving
- Monitor student progress using established assessment tools (Reading Eggs, Mathletics and Acadience)
- Maintain assessment, evaluation, and reporting aligned with Growing Success.
- Establish clear classroom routines, efficient transitions, and consistent behaviour expectations.
- Communicate regularly with parents and collaborate with staff
- Fulfill supervision duties, including dismissal and yard duty
Instructional Approach
- Instruction is aligned with the Ontario curriculum across the core subject areas.
- In Language, students build reading comprehension, writing, vocabulary, and oral communication skills, supported by resources such as Reading Eggs.
- In Mathematics, the focus is on problem-solving, reasoning, and conceptual understanding, with ongoing feedback supported by tools such as Mathletics.
- In Science and Social Studies, students learn through inquiry, discussion, and application of ideas to meaningful contexts.
Student progress is monitored on an ongoing basis through a combination of observation, student work, and assessment tools such as Acadience. Instruction is adjusted to respond to student needs.

Qualifications
- Member in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT)
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.)
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience teaching the Ontario curriculum
- Demonstrated ability to manage a classroom independently
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching at the junior level and/or Kindergarten
- Familiarity with Reading Eggs, Mathletics Acadience, or similar tools
- Strong classroom management and organization
- Effective communication with parents and colleagues
Compensation
- Salary range of $48,000 to $52,000
· Extended health and dental benefits, along with employer RRSP contribution and matching of up to 2%, are available following the initial three-month contract period with a full-year contract
