Position Summary
The Youth Media / Social Media Coordinator at Markham Peoples Community Church is responsible for developing and managing digital content that engages youth and supports the church’s Christ-centered, community-focused mission. Working with ministry leadership, this role plans and produces weekly social media content (e.g., Instagram posts and videos), develops communication channels to connect with local youth, and encourages participation in church life. The Coordinator also researches effective outreach strategies, provides recommendations for digital engagement, and recruits and leads a volunteer team to create creative, educational, and spiritually meaningful content.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Discuss with the supervisor of Youth Ministry on the Youth social media platforms content creation.
2. Produce and manage weekly Youth Social Media’s design and content.
3. Produce videos appropriate for Youth Social Media (or other platforms).
4. Create communication platforms with local youth and meet up at MPCC.
5. Research and report on communication strategy for reaching out to the community youth.
6. Form and lead a volunteer team for producing creative and educational Contents.
7. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Education:
Post-secondary education in a related field preferred
Qualifications and Skills:
· Fluent in spoken and written English.
· A heart for youth ministry and alignment with the mission and values of Markham Peoples Community Church.
· Experience in social media management, content creation, and basic graphic/video production (e.g., Instagram, short-form video).
· Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work collaboratively under the leadership of the Youth Pastor.
· Ability to recruit, lead, and equip volunteers, with creativity and initiative in developing engaging and meaningful content.
· Bible knowledge is a must for this position.
Work Experience
1 year to 2 years of related experience
Work Hours
Full-time, 8 weeks fixed term contract
Expected hours: 30 per week
Schedule: Schedule: Monday to Friday; Weekends as needed
Working Conditions
In Person; Normal office environment.

What youth participants are eligible? To be eligible, youth must:
- Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period*
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment**
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
*The youth must be 15 years of age at the beginning of the employment period. The youth may be more than 30 years of age at the end of the employment period as long as the youth was 30 at the beginning of the employment period.
**International students are not eligible participants. As the objective of the CSJ program is to support youth entering the Canadian labour market, the temporary nature of an international student’s time in Canada does not allow for a long-term connection to the labour market.
International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada. Youth awaiting a refugee status ruling, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, youth visa or work visa are ineligible.
Pay: $17.60 per hour
