JOB STATEMENT
An Innovation Process Engineer develops new technologies, products, or processes to drive business growth and efficiency.
This role involves a blend of engineering, research, and business strategy, focusing on creating and implementing innovative solutions to solve complex problems.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Ideation and Concept Development:
- Generating new ideas, identifying opportunities for innovation, and developing initial concepts for new products, technologies, or processes. Develop preliminary process flow diagrams to ensure the customer's stated needs and product specifications are met. Align new products to existing and future capabilities.
Research and Analysis:
- Conducting research to understand market needs, existing solutions, and emerging technologies, and analyzing data to inform innovation efforts.
Prototyping and Testing:
- Building prototypes, conducting tests, and iterating on designs to validate concepts and refine solutions for the new product.
- Process Commercialization: serve as the lead when it comes to transferring new processes and technologies from the laboratory/bench/pilot scale into full production.
Collaboration and Communication:
- This position will interact as part of larger cross-functional teams including members of Operations, Commercial, Research & Development, Finance, Food Safety& Quality and other functions as appropriate.
Technical Development:
- Designing, developing, and implementing new technologies or solutions on Snacks (bar lines) and Foodservice (muffins and pastry and croissant products).
Capital Equipment:
- Specify new capital equipment to meet the future product needs allowing for more capability, capacity, and flexibility in our production lines.
- Lead Factory Acceptance Test planning and execution to verify equipment performance, compliance, and readiness for shipment.
- Lead the installation and commissioning of the process equipment including ESA and PSR compliance.
Problem Solving:
- Identifying thruputs and bottlenecks on existing production line and solving technical challenges throughout the innovation process, from initial concept to final implementation.
Project Management:
- Managing the scope, schedule, and resources of innovation projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
Staying Updated:
- Continuously learning about new technologies and trends to identify opportunities for innovation and improve existing solutions.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
- Conduct all Job Tasks in a Safe and Responsible manner.
- Participate in all Health and Safety, GMP and HACCP training as required.
- Report any accidents, incidents and unsafe/hazardous conditions to your leadhand/supervisor.
- Report any damages of property and machinery to your leadhand/supervisor.
- Ensure that you understand how and when to use the Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) that is located in your work area.
- Ensure you comply with OHSA, WSIB, MOL regulations and/or laws that govern “workers” responsibilities in the workplace (covered during orientation – section 28 of the OHSA i.e. “Green Book”) and Comply with Tradition Fine Foods Ltd. Safety Rules and Good Manufacturing Practices, and HACCP Programs.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
- A highly-motivated, self-starter capable of leading multiple projects
- Results oriented; having the desire and ability to measure and achieve results both individually and with others
- Industrial/mechanical/chemical engineering, or a related field,
- Experience in relevant Bakery processes and technologies is an asset.
- 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role
- The ability to effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize on a regular basis
- Ability to interact well with key clients, and work effectively in teams.
- P. Eng is an asset
- Candidate must display computer proficiency in Word, Excel, SolidWorks and AutoCAD
