Position Summary
We are seeking a hardworking and reliable Civil Construction Labourer to join our team in Georgina. This role involves supporting municipal and civil construction projects, including roadworks, infrastructure installation, site servicing, excavation, grading, and related construction activities. The successful candidate will have experience working on active construction sites, operating construction equipment, and assisting crews in completing projects safely and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Assist with municipal and civil construction projects, including excavation, grading, roadwork, concrete, and underground infrastructure installation.
- Operate and work around construction equipment and machinery safely and efficiently.
- Support the installation of pipes, catch basins, curbs, sidewalks, and other municipal infrastructure.
- Load, unload, and transport construction materials and equipment.
- Read and interpret site drawings, grade stakes, and project plans as required.
- Perform general labour duties, including shoveling, grading, compaction, and site cleanup.
- Assist operators and skilled tradespeople with daily construction activities.
- Conduct routine equipment inspections and report maintenance concerns.
- Maintain a clean and safe worksite while adhering to all company and regulatory safety requirements.
- Work collaboratively with supervisors and crew members to meet project schedules and deadlines.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in civil construction, road construction, municipal infrastructure, excavation, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience operating construction equipment and machinery is required.
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and site plans is an asset.
- Strong understanding of construction site safety practices.
- Physically capable of performing demanding outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Valid G-Class driver's licence is required.
- Must have reliable transportation/vehicle to travel to and from project sites. (Sites are generally within an hour distance of Georgina)
- Experience working on municipal construction projects is considered a strong asset.
