Full job description

JOB PURPOSE:

The Finance Assistant will support the Finance team with financial reporting, analysis, month-end activities, process improvement initiatives, and cross-functional business support.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist in the preparation, analysis, and reporting of financial statements and management reports using Excel, SAP, and other financial systems.
Perform financial analysis to identify trends, variances, risks, and opportunities for operational and financial improvement.
Support process optimization and automation initiatives in collaboration with Finance leadership to improve efficiency and reporting accuracy.
Participate in month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
Assist in the preparation and maintenance of documentation required for audits, regulatory submissions, and compliance activities.
Maintain accurate and detailed financial records in accordance with accounting standards, internal controls, and company policies.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Accounting, Operations, Human Resources, and other business functions to support organizational objectives.
Support the development and evaluation of site business strategies and objectives through active participation in Finance and Site Leadership Team initiatives.
Promote a culture of financial accountability, continuous improvement, and sound business decision-making.
Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL ATTAINMENT:

Recent graduate with a degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related field.
Completion of relevant coursework in financial accounting, management accounting, and financial analysis.

JOB RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :

Previous experience in a finance or accounting role, preferably in a co-op or internship capacity, is an asset.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

Strong understanding of financial accounting and analysis principles.
Proficiency in financial software and tools, such as Excel and accounting software.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong computer skills, including proficiency in software applications such as Word, Excel, and financial management systems.
Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
