Job Statement
The Production Machine Operator will be responsible for the efficient smooth running of the production machine(s) assigned to any shift, according to established procedures, following all safety protocols and workplace policies.
Essential Functions
- Operate production equipment safely and efficiently, including depositing machines, dough lamination systems, ovens, cooling tunnels, guillotines, and packaging equipment.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures, and promptly report hazards, incidents, or unsafe conditions.
- Ensure products meet quality standards by performing required checks and accurately recording data in operational systems (WMS) and checklists.
- Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), food safety standards, and SQF requirements at all times.
- Review and follow all work instructions and procedures prior to starting tasks.
- Monitor equipment and production line performance, identifying and reporting any issues impacting efficiency, quality, or output.
- Perform basic troubleshooting and coordinate with maintenance when issues cannot be resolved.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment in line with housekeeping standards.
- Handle and stage materials correctly to support smooth production flow.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and communicate clearly across shifts and departments.
- Demonstrate flexibility by working in different areas and participating in cross-training as needed.
- Meet production targets while ensuring accuracy, consistency, and quality of output.
- Complete all required documentation and production records accurately and in a timely manner.
- Follow proper startup, shutdown, and changeover procedures for equipment.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and report inefficiencies or recurring issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands:
- May be required to stand/sit for long periods of time
- May be required to perform repetitive motions
- May engage in frequent bending, stooping or squatting
- Due to the environment, must be able to work in various weather and temperature conditions which include extreme heat, humidity and cold
- Must be able to work in tight or enclosed spaces
Health and Safety
- Conduct all Job Tasks in a Safe and Responsible manner.
- Participate in all Health and Safety, GMP and HACCP training as required.
- Report any accidents, incidents and unsafe/hazardous conditions to your lead hand/supervisor.
- Report any damages of property and machinery to your lead hand/supervisor.
Job Specifications
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
- 2 - 5 years of experience as a Machine Operator, preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures
- Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
- Effective communications skills (oral & written)
- Time management skills
- Critical eye for identifying defects and attention to details
- Commitment to quality and safety
- Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
- Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor.
