Position Summary
Mansteel Rebar Ltd. is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Coordinator to support our construction operations throughout Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Newfoundland.
This is a field-based position requiring frequent travel to active construction sites. The successful candidate will work closely with management, supervisors, forepersons, workers, subcontractors, and clients to promote safe work practices, ensure legislative compliance, conduct inspections and investigations, and help foster a strong safety culture across all projects.
We are looking for someone who can start as soon as possible. Bilingual (English/French) candidates are preferred, and experience in rebar, reinforcing steel, structural steel, or the construction industry is strongly preferred.
Please note: Mansteel Rebar Ltd. does not require Canadian work experience as part of its hiring criteria.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and hazard assessments on active construction projects.
- Identify hazards, unsafe work practices, and regulatory non-compliance while recommending practical corrective actions.
- Monitor compliance with Occupational Health and Safety legislation, client requirements, and company policies.
- Support supervisors and project teams by providing practical health and safety guidance.
- Develop and maintain safe work procedures, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and COR documentation.
- Provide safety guidance for reinforcing steel installation, hoisting and rigging, telehandlers, MEWPs, working at heights, mobile equipment, and material handling activities.
- Investigate workplace incidents, injuries, near misses, and property damage incidents, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Deliver new worker orientations, toolbox talks, safety meetings, and health and safety training.
- Maintain health and safety records, reports, statistics, inspections, corrective actions, and other required documentation.
- Assist with government security clearance applications and maintain confidential records.
- Promote a positive safety culture through coaching, mentoring, and employee engagement.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years of health and safety experience in the construction industry.
- Experience in rebar, reinforcing steel, structural steel, structural concrete, heavy civil, industrial, or high-rise construction is strongly preferred.
- Bilingual (English/French) is considered a strong asset.
- Strong knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety legislation and regulations.
- Experience conducting inspections, hazard assessments, and incident investigations.
- Experience developing safe work procedures and Job Hazard Analyses.
- Knowledge of COR certification requirements is considered an asset.
- NCSO, CRSP, CHSC, or equivalent health and safety designation is considered an asset.
- Valid driver's licence with the ability to travel extensively throughout Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Newfoundland.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).

Work Location
Field-based position
Regular travel throughout Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Newfoundland is required.
Candidates must possess a valid driver's licence and be willing to travel extensively.
