Eunoia Forest School is seeking a passionate, grounded, and caring Outdoor Educator to
join our team. This is a full-time teaching position embedded in a deeply outdoor,
nature-immersive learning environment. Our educators spend over 95% of their time
outdoors, across all four seasons, guiding children through play, exploration, and
project-based discovery.
About the Role

hiring for one position and will give the successful candidate their choice of cohort.
Kindergarten Cohort: Children aged 4 and 5
School-Age Cohort: Children in Grades 1–3, aged 6–8
You will plan, prepare, and co-create hands-on activities and projects rooted in natural
materials and the living world around us. You will also prepare daily learning materials that
reflect each child’s curiosity, development, and the rhythms of the natural environment.

What You Will Do
Facilitate outdoor education and project-based learning grounded in Forest School ethos
Support and guide children through emergent, child-led, inquiry-driven experiences
Ensure the physical and emotional safety of children in varied outdoor settings,
including areas near water and streams
Build and nurture a classroom culture rooted in respect, empathy, and collaborative
problem-solving
Incorporate foundational literacy and numeracy in developmentally appropriate,
nature-connected ways, including willingness to learn and apply the UFLI reading
program and to weave reading, writing, and math meaningfully into daily learning
Collect and create materials specific to your program. Including set up and take down
as needed
Communicate warmly and effectively with families in person, by phone, through
ClassDojo and by email
Communicate effectively with Ellisha, the owner, regarding program planning,
purchasing materials, and program/cohort needs
Communicate effectively with colleagues to establish routines and connected
learning
Attend and actively participate in staff training, educator meetings, and Forest
School-related professional activities●
Flexibility with eating lunch on site with children, as needed (paid lunch)
We are looking for someone who is:

Familiar with Forest School philosophy and the value it places on outdoor,
unstructured, and risky play
Knowledgeable about and supportive of approaches to risky play and thoughtful
risk-reduction strategies
Comfortable and experienced supporting children with special needs and diverse
learning profiles
Enthusiastic about learning and sharing outdoor skills such as knot tying, shelter
building, appropriate seasonal clothing and self-care, and respectful interaction with
local wildlife
Curious about and knowledgeable of local plants, trees, animals, and natural history
(an asset, not a requirement)
Willing and able to teach with energy and enthusiasm regardless of the weather. You
must be dressed for, and comfortable working in, rain, snow, sleet, heat, wind. Bugs
included!
Physically capable of walking distances over uneven terrain, carrying a backpack and
supplies, and spending extended periods outdoors
Qualifications & Requirements
Required:
Standard First Aid with CPR-C certification must be in place by the start date (August 31)
A new Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference Check must be provided prior to the
start of employment
Priority given to candidates with:
Education and hands-on experience in a child-focused program (e.g., ECE,
education degree, child and youth work, or related field)
Direct experience in outdoor education, Forest School programming, or nature-based
learning environments
Considered an asset:
Knowledge of local flora, fauna, and natural history
Experience with UFLI reading programs or other evidence-based literacy approaches
Wilderness skills, nature interpretation, or environmental education background
Pay: $19.00-$21.00 per hour
