Somerville is a design-led manufacturer of retail experiences. We build displays, fixtures, and signage that go into stores for global brands, national brands, and big-box retailers across the country.

We’re looking for an experienced Lead Hand to run our welding department — keeping the team, the quality, and the workflow moving so programs ship on time and to standard.

Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Lead Welder to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in welding and fabrication, with the ability to lead a team of welders in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role requires proficiency in various welding techniques and the ability to read blueprints and schematics. As a Lead Welder, you will ensure that all welding projects are completed to the highest standards of quality and safety.

Responsibilities

Oversee and coordinate the daily activities of the welding and finishing team.
Perform welding tasks using various techniques, including MIG, Spot, Tig and laser welding.
Read and interpret blueprints and schematics to determine project specifications.
Conduct inspections of completed work to ensure compliance with quality standards.
Train and mentor welders on best practices and safety protocols.
Maintain a clean and organized work area while adhering to safety regulations.

What you bring

Proven experience as a welder with expertise in various welding methods.
Strong understanding of blueprint reading and schematic interpretation.
Math skills for precise measurements and calculations.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Ability to lead and develop team members.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Commitment to maintaining safety standards in the workplace.
