Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Local & Shunt Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely maneuvering freight and equipment within our facility and to designated locations. This role requires a strong understanding of commercial driving, heavy equipment operation, and safety protocols to ensure efficient transportation and logistics support. The position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, supporting the movement of freight with precision and professionalism.

Responsibilities

Operate forklifts and other heavy equipment to load, unload, and transport freight within the facility
Safely maneuver trucks for local deliveries and shunting operations between different parts of the site or to external locations
Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on vehicles and equipment to ensure safety and operational readiness
Assist with automotive repairs or troubleshooting as needed to maintain vehicle functionality
Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, traffic laws, and company policies during operations
Maintain accurate records of freight movement, vehicle logs, and inspection reports
Collaborate with warehouse staff and logistics teams to coordinate timely deliveries and pickups

Qualifications

Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for freight hauling and shunting operations
Experience operating forklifts, heavy machinery, or similar equipment is highly desirable
Knowledge of freight handling procedures and safety standards in industrial or warehouse settings
Basic automotive repair skills are a plus for troubleshooting vehicle issues
Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to safety protocols
Prior experience in commercial driving or logistics is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided as needed

Pay: $17.20-$27.00 per hour

Work Location: On the road
