Optical Sales Associate / Optometric Assistant

Wales Optical – First Markham Place, Markham, ON
Pay: CA$18.00–CA$30.00 per hour (based on experience)

About Us

Wales Optical is a luxury eyewear and specialty contact lens clinic located in First Markham Place, Markham. We have proudly served the community for over 20 years and are looking for a friendly, professional, and motivated individual to join our team.

What You'll Do

Assist customers with selecting eyeglasses, sunglasses, and contact lenses by providing professional recommendations
Support opticians and optometrists with daily clinic and retail operations
Handle billing, invoicing, insurance claims, and POS transactions
Book and manage appointments and follow up with patients as needed
Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming clinic environment
Accurately enter and update customer information and prescriptions
Assist with frame merchandising, inventory management, and product displays
Learn about lens products and educate customers on available options and features

What We're Looking For

High school diploma required; college or university education is an asset
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Fluent in English and Mandarin (Cantonese is an asset)
Comfortable working in a fast-paced retail and healthcare environment
Previous experience in retail, optical, medical, banking, or customer service is preferred but not required
Positive attitude, professional appearance, and strong attention to detail
Sales experience and confidence in recommending products are considered assets
Reliable, responsible, and eager to learn new skills
Available to work flexible schedules, including Saturdays (Store is closed on Sundays)
