Position Summary
The Digital Printing & Forming Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations across both the digital printing and cup forming departments. This role manages digital printing machines, acts as the primary contact for troubleshooting production and machine issues, manages workflow, ensures production efficiency, oversees supply re-ordering, and supervises forming machine operations.
This position ensures that cup forming manufacturing follows proper protocols, including required testing procedures, and that there is enough inventory of blank formed cups available to support daily digital print jobs. The supervisor also manages employees to ensure SOPs, quality standards, testing requirements, and safety procedures are followed consistently.
The Digital Printing & Forming Supervisor acts as the bridge between the digital printing and forming departments to ensure smooth communication, proper production planning, and efficient job completion.
Key Responsibilities
Digital Printing Operations
- Oversee the daily operation of digital printing machines.
- Manage digital printing equipment and ensure machines are running efficiently.
- Act as the primary point of contact for troubleshooting machine issues, print concerns, and production interruptions.
- Monitor print quality, machine performance, and production output.
- Ensure print jobs are completed according to approved artwork, specifications, timelines, and production requirements.
- Work with team members to resolve technical issues quickly and reduce downtime.
- Maintain organized updates related to job status, machine issues, and production progress.
Paper Cup Forming Operations
- Oversee the operation of forming machines used in the manufacturing of blank cups.
- Ensure cup forming production follows proper manufacturing protocols and company standards.
- Ensure formed cups are tested according to required quality control procedures before being released for print jobs.
- Monitor forming quality, machine output, and production efficiency.
- Confirm that formed cups meet required specifications for structure, sizing, sealing, and overall quality.
- Identify forming issues and coordinate corrective action with employees and management.
- Communicate forming-related delays, testing concerns, material issues, or production challenges to the appropriate team members.
Blank Paper Cup Inventory Management
- Ensure there is enough stock of blank formed cups in inventory to support daily digital print jobs.
- Monitor blank formed cup inventory levels and communicate shortages or supply gaps in advance.
- Coordinate forming priorities based on upcoming print jobs, production schedules, and order deadlines.
- Ensure formed cups are prepared and available before digital print production begins.
- Help maintain organized inventory tracking for blank formed cups, production materials, and related supplies.
Workflow & Production Efficiency
- Manage workflow between digital printing and forming departments.
- Prioritize jobs based on deadlines, production schedules, inventory needs, and machine capacity.
- Ensure materials and formed cups move efficiently from forming to digital printing.
- Identify workflow bottlenecks and recommend improvements to increase efficiency.
- Coordinate staffing, task assignments, and production priorities.
- Act as the communication bridge between the digital printing team, forming team, and management.
- Support smooth job handoff between departments to minimize delays and production errors.
Employee Supervision & SOP Compliance
- Supervise employees working in digital printing and forming areas.
- Ensure employees follow company SOPs, production procedures, testing protocols, and quality standards.
- Provide training, guidance, and support to employees as needed.
- Monitor employee performance, productivity, and adherence to procedures.
- Reinforce proper machine operation, setup, shutdown, and workplace practices.
- Promote accountability, teamwork, and consistent communication across both departments.
Supplies & Re-Ordering
- Monitor inventory levels for digital printing, forming, and general production supplies.
- Handle re-ordering of necessary materials, inks, machine parts, tools, and production supplies.
- Communicate supply needs in advance to prevent production delays.
- Ensure supplies are stored properly, organized, and used efficiently.
- Work with management or purchasing to maintain adequate stock levels for ongoing production needs.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure employees follow workplace safety standards and machine safety procedures.
- Promote a clean, organized, and hazard-free production environment.
- Ensure proper use of PPE and safe machine operation.
- Report equipment issues, safety concerns, or incidents to management.
- Ensure SOPs, safety standards, and testing protocols are followed consistently across both digital printing and forming operations.
Qualifications
- Experience in digital printing, cup forming, manufacturing, production machinery, or a related field.
- Previous supervisory, lead hand, or team lead experience preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage workflow, prioritize tasks, and meet production deadlines.
- Understanding of SOPs, quality control, testing procedures, and workplace safety standards.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate between departments.
- Organized and detail-oriented
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced production or manufacturing environment.
- Ability to train, guide, and hold employees accountable to company procedures.
