About the Position
We are seeking a detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Prepress Production Technician. While prior printing experience is a plus, we are primarily looking for someone with a strong foundation in color theory, chemical mixing, or fine arts.
If you have a background in a lab, art studio, or manufacturing environment and enjoy working with your hands, precision, and color, this role is a perfect fit. You will be responsible for preparing screens, plates, and custom ink blends to ensure our production runs are accurate and high-quality.
Note: This is a hands-on, active role within a manufacturing environment. You should be comfortable working on your feet, handling various materials, and maintaining a clean, organized workspace.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare screens, plates, inks, and related materials to ensure production jobs are accurately set up and ready for manufacturing.
- Mix, match, and adjust inks to meet color specifications, including Pantone standards and substrate requirements.
- Verify artwork, job orders, color references, and production specifications to ensure accuracy prior to production.
- Inspect screens, plates, and prepared materials for quality issues, reporting discrepancies or concerns as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of ink formulas, color adjustments, production notes, and repeat-order specifications.
- Organize, label, store, and manage production materials, while monitoring inventory levels of inks, chemicals, screens, plates, and consumables.
- Stage materials ahead of production runs and support waste reduction through efficient preparation and handling processes.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, following all company quality, safety, PPE, and hazardous material handling procedures.
- Support production and operational activities as required to meet business objectives.
Qualifications
- Experience: 2–3 years of experience in a role requiring precision mixing, measuring, or color matching. This could include:
- Chemistry/Lab: Experience with chemical handling, titration, or precise measurement.
- Fine Arts/Design: Experience with screen printing, painting, color theory, or studio production.
- Manufacturing: Experience in a fast-paced production environment.
Skills:
- Color Aptitude: A keen eye for color accuracy and the ability to distinguish subtle variations in hue and saturation.
- Precision: Exceptional attention to detail; you take pride in following recipes/formulas exactly.
- Environment: Comfortable working in a manufacturing setting, including standing for extended periods and following safety protocols for handling inks and chemicals.
- Organization: Strong record-keeping skills—you enjoy keeping a workspace orderly and tracking inventory levels.
- Adaptability: Ability to learn new technical processes quickly and work both independently and as part of a team.
