We are seeking Provincial Offences Officers for a minimum 40-hour work week, with flexibility to work various shifts at assigned locations. Successful candidates will play a key role in maintaining fare integrity and ensuring positive customer relations. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to public safety and service excellence within the TTC.
- Maintain the integrity of the fare system and deliver excellent customer service by consistently enforcing TTC by-laws related to fare inspections and other issues in a fair, non-discriminatory manner.
- Conduct fare inspections on proof-of-payment transit lines and within subway stations.
- Support education and compliance with TTC By-law No.1 and relevant municipal and provincial statutes, in line with departmental codes of conduct, ethics, values, and mission.
- Promote positive customer relations and maintain effective communication with the public and TTC employees.
- Issue notices and summonses respectfully and in accordance with TTC standards.
- Treat passengers and employees with respect and dignity, ensuring the needs of individuals with disabilities are accommodated in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and related orders.
- Completion of High-school Diploma/Secondary school or its recognized equivalent, with 2+ years of experience in customer service, hospitality, healthcare, or social services.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and decision-making skills under pressure.
- Ability to meet and maintain TTC Transit Provincial Offences Officer Unit recruitment and training standards.
- Ability to complete re-qualification training, testing, and background checks as required.
- Knowledge of security or law enforcement practices, including investigation and loss prevention/control principles, techniques, and equipment, is an asset.
- Experience in security, law enforcement, or loss‑prevention roles is an asset.
- Understanding of applicable legislation, including the Trespass to Property Act, Criminal Code, Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, Provincial Offences Act, Ontario Human Rights Code, Liquor Licence Act, and Mental Health Act, along with practical knowledge of court procedures, is an asset.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and related orders, including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements for passengers and employees, or the ability to quickly acquire this knowledge
