Responsibilities:
The HR & LR Coordinator supports the enabling of an agile and effective HR function in Canada, through strong governance in administering critical tasks, coordinating function-wide initiatives, representing HR internally in cross-functional projects, and supporting the General Director to further strengthen our culture of learning, accountability, and inclusion. The incumbent should be comfortable working with employees at all levels of the organization, stakeholders, suppliers, industry, and union partners.
Admin
- Supports the HR/LR Director by managing their calendar, expense reporting and other administrative tasks as required.
- Process SAP transactions, including shopping carts and purchase orders.
- Serve as a liaison between Purchasing, suppliers, and Finance to resolve issues.
- Oversee internal HR/LR communications by monitoring, updating, and distributing bulletins, announcements, and memos.
- Coordinate with LHH vendor to support employees utilizing outplacement services.
- Employee physical files management & retrieval.
HR Team Engagement
- Facilitate and coordinate recurring meetings (monthly stand-up, staff meetings, CAN HR leadership staff meeting etc).
- Coordinate various other meetings and events, including logistics and minute-taking.
- Coordinate HR programs and initiatives such as Career Week, HR workshops, Leadership Visits etc.
- Prepare presentation decks and materials for HR events (workshops, leadership visits etc).
- Monitor and track critical HRBP deliverables, workshop action items, WOC action items and follow-ups to ensure timely execution and alignment.
- Plan and support HR-led team-building and internal events (e.g., quarterly learning series/ trainings, social events etc.).
- Work closely with the Employee Resource Groups to advise and work on various diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives
Onboarding & Orientation
- Coordinate with global onboarding teams to align Canada onboarding schedules with global orientation timelines.
- Coordinate and facilitate monthly new hire orientation for GM Canada.
- Maintain and regularly update the orientation deck by validating content with HRBPs & executives on a monthly basis.
Policy & Compliance
- Partner with HR & policy team to roll out the holiday calendar for GM Canada.
- Maintain and update the Canada holiday calendar in PowerApps (Mfg & Non-Mfg).
- Support cross-functional coordination for summer shutdown communications with HR, Policy, CTC, and Plant Leadership.
- Coordinate and execute Equity Learning Week for union employees in line with the master agreement.
- Coordinate critical compliance and risk management activities, including ILM, BCP, and RIM within the HR function.
- Respond to external legal inquiries regarding employment records using standard templates.
- Monitor completion of corporate-required training & Canada required training and follow up with (HR) employees to ensure all pending courses are completed.
- Manage addendum updates on GM One, including preparation, stakeholder coordination, tracking, and communication to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Review and validate annual DEI/employment equity data and support submission of FCP reporting requirements.
Education/Experience
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required.
- College degree or equivalent training preferred.
- 10+ years of experience required.
