Complete Truck Maintenance is a dedicated tank and trailer repair and refurbish shop committed to ensuring the safety and quality of transportation equipment. We value precision, reliability, and excellence in every project we undertake.

Summary

The Quality Control Assistant works directly under the Quality Control Manager (QCM) to support production-side inspection, testing, and documentation across CTM's cryogenic and compressed gas trailer rehab and repair operations. This is a hands-on, floor-based role. The primary focus is assisting the QCM with the day-to-day inspection sequence on active jobs: piping and valve installation and labelling, pressure and functional testing, material marking, and maintaining accurate QC records through each stage of the rehab process. The successful candidate is mechanically capable, detail-oriented, and understands that in a regulated environment accuracy is not optional.

Key Responsibilities

Inspections and Production Support

Assist the QCM with in-progress and final inspections on active rehab and repair jobs, following CTM's inspection sequence for each stage of production.
Verify that mechanical, structural, weld, and piping work meets CTM's quality standards before the QCM provides sign-off.
Identify and document deficiencies at each inspection point. Flag anything that requires QCM review before work proceeds.
Support pre-delivery inspections and confirm all checklist items are complete prior to customer return.

Piping and Valve Work

Assist with the installation, reinstallation, and dismantling of valve and piping systems under direction of the QCM.
Label all piping, valves, and fittings correctly upon installation. Confirm labelling matches the unit's piping diagram and customer specification before sign-off.
Verify valve orientation, flow direction markings, and connection identification on LIN, LOX, LAR, CO2, and nitrogen trailer systems.
Assist with pressure testing of piping and valve systems. Record test pressures, hold times, and results on the job form.

Material Marking and Parts Tracking

Mark materials and components with the correct unit number and work order number at each stage of the rehab.
Manage the QC Hold bin at dismantle; ensure relief valves, certified gauges, and regulated components are correctly segregated, tagged, and reviewed before any disposition decision is made.
Confirm that kept components are logged, labelled, and traceable to the correct unit through reinstallation.
Assist with receiving, labelling, and organizing valve and piping inventory in the QC parts area.

Testing and Functional Checks

Assist the QCM with pressure testing, leak testing, and functional checks on completed piping and valve systems.
Record all test results accurately; pressures, durations, pass/fail outcomes, and any corrective actions taken.
Support gauge and thermometer inspection at dismantle and reinstallation stages. Confirm certification dates are current before any gauge is reinstalled.
Assist with vacuum readings on incoming units and document results before any dismantle begins.

Documentation and Records

Complete CTM inspection forms and QC records accurately at each stage.
Maintain the job folder for each active unit; inspection records, test results, parts tracking, and deficiency logs kept current throughout the job.
Support the QCM in updating department procedures, checklists, and inspection forms as required.
Flag recurring deficiencies or patterns to the QCM for review and process improvement.

Requirements

Hands-on mechanical experience in a trades, industrial, or shop environment.
Ability to read and follow work orders, technical drawings, and piping diagrams.
Strong attention to detail.
Organized and methodical.
Physical capability to perform inspections in varied positions including bending, climbing, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
Committed to workplace safety and correct PPE use at all times. CTM operates with cryogenic equipment, compressed gas systems, and regulated pressure vessels.

Desirable Attributes

Previous experience with piping, valve, or pressure vessel systems in an industrial or gas industry setting.
Familiarity with cryogenic trailer operations; LIN, LOX, LAR, CO2, or nitrogen transport trailers.
Knowledge of or exposure to CSA B620, TC 406, TSSA B51, or related Canadian pressure vessel and transport regulations.
Experience with pressure testing procedures and documentation in a regulated environment.
Comfortable working alongside welders, fabricators, and mechanics in an active production shop.

Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
