The Quality Inspector Level II will report to the Director of Quality and will examine the product for physical defects. Review the drawings and specifications to understand the product requirements and verify the product's dimensionality and workmanship visually against the drawing and specifications to confirm conformance; perform receiving inspection, first-off inspection, in-process inspection, and final inspection of manufactured product and purchased parts as required, and assist in maintaining the company’s Quality Management System (QMS) per customer and/or AS9100/ISO 9000 requirements.

Shift (day): Mon - Thurs 7:30 am - 5pm; Fri 7:30 am - 4pm
Job Responsibilities and Duties
Work Order Review
- Review Work Orders/travellers for accuracy and completeness, verifying applicable revisions.
Inspect / First Off Inspection / Incoming Inspection
- Inspect, monitor, and ensure all quality standards are met for manufactured parts to establish criteria and control plans, before releasing them to the next operation step.
- Conduct first-off inspection activities to ensure that the correct set-up, product program, and product meet the customer and drawing requirements.
- Verify incoming materials to confirm compliance with the purchase order and/or customer requirements and liaise with the supplier as applicable regarding documentation and defective material.
In-process Inspection
- Perform regular assessments during the manufacturing cycle to confirm that the product and process are still in control and the product meets quality standards and customer requirements.
Final Inspection
- Review the work order/traveller to ensure all defined operations are completed and verified.
- Perform quality assessment before the product is released to the customer to ensure that all the customer and drawing requirements have been completed and met.
Documentation
- Completed the desired quality documentation and data, on First Article Inspection Report (FAI), PPAP, Quality Performance Reports, Inspection Logs and Records, etc.
- Record inspection activities such as first-off, in-process, incoming, and final inspection results on required records.
- Assist and provide recommendations to update production instructions, inspection procedures, checklists, records, etc.
- Ensure that all WIP, stores, purchased, and/or finished products are identified with the inspection status in every process or area.
NCR
- Ensure that defective material is properly identified with tags, etc.
- Report any deviations to the supervisor and lead hands.
- Ensure the quality-related issues are resolved promptly and the rework is verified to meet the quality and drawing requirements.
- Issues Non-Conforming Material reports (NCR) for rejected material and/or work orders.
Corrective Action
- Assist production and management in developing new approaches to solve problems identified during quality activities.
- Assist in investigating manufacturing and customer complaints regarding quality and errors, as directed by management.
Priorities
- Understand priority sequencing for inspection and work under the guidance of the Production and Quality Management to establish the priorities.
Process Improvement
- Review all data obtained during all quality control activities to ensure consistency with company policies and procedures and report any opportunities for improvement.
- Issues (DCR) Document Change Record for improvement and updated to processes & documentation.
Calibration / Other Duties
- Calibrate measuring equipment, tools, fixtures and gauges. Ensure that calibration records are available and are up to date, as well as tools have the desired calibration status.
- Enforce company standards regarding quality, safety and security regulations, environmental compliance, and good housekeeping practices.
- Can and willing to work afternoon shifts as required.
- Perform other duties within their skill sets as assigned by the Senior and/or Quality Management directive.
Qualifications
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, manufacturing drawings and specifications to understand product requirements and validate compliance against these specifications and drawings.
- Basic computer literacy and ability to work with Microsoft Office. (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Familiar with the use of ERP systems, such as VISUAL INFO, is an asset.
- Requires reading and communicating in English thoroughly, both verbally and in written form.
- Must be self-motivated, work independently or in a team environment, complete tasks assigned and work with minimal supervision.
- Sound problem-solving skills and the ability to provide solid solutions.
- Having a solid understanding of GD & T, along with familiarity with SPC.
- Cooperate with coworkers to ensure that issues are appropriately communicated, contained, and resolved.
- Able to use various measuring equipment or tools, including but not limited to: Vernier, calipers, micrometer, height gauges, feeler gauges, coating thickness tester, and digital protractor, etc.
Other Skills
- ASQ certifications, an asset
- Completion of a college program in Quality Assurance
- Solid knowledge of metal manufacturing.
- Use of SolidWorks as an asset.
- Familiarity with programming and operating a Laser Scanner, or Faro Arm, is an asset.
