Our Port Hope location is looking for an Environmental Technologist to help implement comprehensive environmental and biophysical monitoring programs. What will you be doing!

Working in all outdoor conditions, collecting field measurements using a variety of instrumentation, collecting samples within prescribed processes and plans, tracking, preparing and analyzing samples for radiological and non-radiological parameters.

Carrying out environmental monitoring activities.

Maintaining accurate field forms by fully completing all paperwork and keeping detailed notes.

Managing resources such as Environmental Instrumentation and consumables to ensure the work schedule is not impacted and steady availability.

Assisting in the creation/revision of documentation related to the Environmental Assessment Follow-up program and the analysis of Environmental Datasets.

Performing a complete analysis of environmental datasets to assist in periodic reporting to stakeholders.
Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What we are looking for:
-
Education
-
A degree or diploma from a recognized institute of environmental, biology, or other sciences, or its equivalent in experience, additional education and/or recognized training.

Experience
-
1 to 3 years of environmental field work and sample collection techniques.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
-
Ability to work effectively and maintain good working relationships with other team members.

Valid Ontario class “G” (or equivalent) driver’s license.
-
Valid Pleasure Craft Operator card.
-
Ability to advance their knowledge of theory, principles, and new processes.

Security Clearance Eligibility Required
-
Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
Working Conditions:

Working schedule: Five (5) days per week, seven and a half (7.5) hours per day for a thirty-seven and a half (37.5) hour work week.

Field-based work outside in a potentially unmaintained natural environment, in all weather conditions.

The CNL Historic Waste Program Management Office and the Port Hope Area Initiative projects are situated on the traditional lands of the Williams Treaties First Nations, specifically the Gunshot Treaty negotiated between the Crown and Mississauga Nation during the 1780s and represented today by the Williams Treaties First Nations. The Mississauga Nations are also signatories to various 18th and 19th century treaties that covered lands in different parts of south-central Ontario. In 1923, the Mississauga First Nations and the Chippewa First Nations consisting of Rama, Beausoleil and Georgina Island signed the Williams Treaties and together, over 90 years later in June 2018, joined to ensure that their rights and the relationship with these lands are respected through a renewed agreement with Canada and the province of Ontario. The area in which we are situated is also home to Indigenous Peoples from across the region and Canada.
