Full job description

Job Overview

We are seeking a motivated and customer-focused Part-Time IT Support Technician to provide remote, office-based and occasional onsite technical support to our business clients.

The successful candidate will troubleshoot Windows systems, Microsoft 365, business applications, printers, networks and other office technology. The technician will handle routine support requests independently and assist senior technical staff with system maintenance and IT projects when required.

Job Responsibilities

Provide technical support to clients by phone, email, remote connection and onsite service.
Troubleshoot Windows computers, Microsoft 365, business applications, printers and network issues.
Install and configure computers, software, user accounts and other office equipment.
Perform routine system maintenance, updates, security checks and backup checks.
Provide basic Windows Server and Active Directory support.
Assist senior technicians with servers, firewalls, networks, system upgrades and other IT projects.
Keep clients updated and document completed work.
Travel to client locations when onsite technical support is required.

Required Qualifications

University degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field.
One to two years of related IT support experience.
Good working knowledge of Windows systems, Microsoft 365, computer hardware, business applications and basic networking.
Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, customer-service and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple support requests and prioritize work effectively.
Ability to work independently and as part of a technical team.
Ability to work in a fast-paced and changing technical environment.
Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 30 lbs.
Valid Ontario Class G or G2 driver’s licence.
Access to reliable personal transportation when required.

Experience Considered an Asset

Exposure to any of the following would be considered an asset but is not required:

Windows Server and Active Directory
Microsoft 365 administration
Basic networking, firewalls, switches, Wi-Fi and VPNs
Endpoint security and backup software
Microsoft Hyper-V or other virtualization technologies
