Job Description/Summary:
Jump for Joy is currently inviting applications for the role of After School Care Program Leader.
We are currently seeking passionate and dedicated individuals that are committed and interested in working with children and possess a strong understanding of the various aspects of healthy child development.
Under the leadership of the program director, After School Care Leaders are mainly responsible for ensuring the safety, supervision, and physical and mental wellbeing of the child participants.
Furthermore, After School Care Leaders are responsible for implementing and leading successful programming and outcome-based activities that foster a fun, enriching, and inclusive environment for our After School and PA Day camp programs.l
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and monitor the activities of children at all times to ensure their safety and well-being at all times.
- Provide a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children under your care.
- Plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate activities and programs that promote physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development.
- Engage children in educational and recreational activities, including games, arts and crafts, storytelling, and outdoor play.
- Foster positive relationships and effective communication with children, parents, and co-workers.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and child-friendly environment, including regular cleaning and sanitizing of toys, equipment, and facility.
- Pick-up children from school and safely walk them back to the program site.
- Prepare and serve snacks to children, ensuring proper nutrition and dietary requirements are met.
- Provide emotional support and comfort to children.
- act as a positive role model for children, demonstrating kindness, patience, and respect in all interactions.
Skills:
- Previous work experience in child-focused roles
- Strong knowledge of child development principles and appropriate behaviour management techniques
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a team lead a team and remain calm, patient, and organized in a fast-paced environment
Requirements/Qualifications:
- HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD) certificate (must be willing to obtain- paid by company*)
- Standard First Aid & CPR-C
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS) (can obtain at time of hire)
- Must provide 2 reference checks
- Be at least 16 years of age
-Previous work experience with kids is an asset
-Must be available to work from Monday to Friday from 2:30-5 or 3:00-5:30

Jump for Joy Play Centre is a female owned business servicing families in the east end community of Toronto for over 8 years.
We offer various recreation programs for children ages four to nine including after school care, PA Day camps, and winter/summer camps.
Our organization is committed to supporting the HIGH FIVE® principles of healthy child development to ensure the delivery of quality children’s recreation programs.
