Reporting to the Vice President, Corporate Actuarial, this role is responsible for leading the coordination, aggregation, and delivery of actuarial and financial results, business planning and forecasting, regulatory reporting, and act as key contact for external stakeholders. The position ensures the integrity of financial outcomes through robust processes, strong actuarial controls, and clear communication of results and insights to senior leadership.
As the Assistant Vice-President Central Actuarial and Finance, your key responsibilities will include…

Communicate financial results, drivers of earnings, and business insights to senior leadership.

Support leadership in the preparation of internal and external communications on financial performance including preparation of materials for the Board of Directors, executive management, investors, market analysts, rating agencies, and regulators.

Lead business planning and financial forecasting activities, coordinating deliverables across functions.

Own and enhance the methodology for ongoing financial forecasts and drivers of earnings analysis providing management with actionable insights to support strategic and operational decision-making.

Lead aggregation of actuarial and financial reporting, including the Notes to Financial Statements.

Serve as the primary contact for internal and external auditors and external reviewers, ensuring efficient coordination and high-quality responses.

Provide oversight and insight into the financial implications of actuarial assumptions and methodologies.

Oversee preparation and coordination of regulatory deliverables.

Coordinate industry surveys, rating agency submissions, and other external stakeholder requests.

Drive process improvements, automation opportunities, and support finance transformation initiatives.

Support strategic projects and corporate initiatives through actuarial and financial analysis.

Translate complex actuarial, financial, and regulatory concepts into clear, concise, and actionable business insights for senior management and executives.

Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to team members, supporting their technical, professional, and career development.

What we are looking for…

Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries
-
University degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics or a related field
-
Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in Life insurance, with leadership experience

In-depth knowledge of Canadian life insurance financial reporting, actuarial valuation, and regulatory requirements under IFRS 17
-
Superior organizational skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple and changing priorities

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, focusing on relevant information and being able to explain complex concepts in easily understandable terms to a wide range of audiences

Strong analytical, decision-making and negotiation skills

Excellent stakeholder management skills, capable of influencing and engaging across all levels

Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a high-performing team
What we pay…
Salary Range: $165,000 to $215,000
