Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Structural Engineer to join our talented team. As a Structural Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, reviewing, and ensuring the structural integrity of various systems within our mining/backfill client projects. You will report to the office for a minimum of two days per week.
Your responsibilities will include preparing design calculations, reviewing drawings, and contributing to the overall success of construction and design projects. Experience with Industrial Applications over Residential is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review design calculations of structural systems in the mining industry.
- Participate in the preparation and review of drawings, design specifications, and reports.
- Contribute to the preparation of estimates, bills of quantities, schedules, and budgets.
- Ensure that plans meet guidelines, building code requirements, and other national and international standards and regulations.
- Contribute to the preparation of contract documents for construction and design projects.
- Prepare and contribute to technical memos and reports within areas of expertise.
- Experience with Industrial Applications.
- Support the preparation of contracts and negotiate revisions, changes, and additions to contractual agreements.
- Plan and create detailed structural engineering drawings in both 2D and 3D design, collaborating with other team members.
- Maintain accurate design files for reference.
- Check 2D drawings and 3D models for clashes and constructability with other disciplines.
- Review and evaluate technical work prepared by junior engineers, intermediate engineers, designers, technicians, and technologists.
- Stamp documents and drawings as required and if appropriately registered.
- Work closely with mechanical engineers, automation specialists, and mining operations teams to optimize systems.
- Support capital projects related to new mining infrastructure, automation upgrades, and power system expansions.
- Provide feedback to managers and contribute to the business’ continuous improvement and growth.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering specializing in steel and concrete structural design or similar.
- Minimum of three (3) years of civil engineering experience.
- Minimum of three (3) years of structural mining experience (focus on mining/backfill).
- Licensed and Registered Professional Engineer in Canada (P.Eng).
- Knowledge in AutoCAD, Sap2000, and ETABS.
- Proficient in English communication.
- Good knowledge of Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Experience in industrial applications is preferred over residential.
