Position Summary
ACCN’s Counsellor and Program Manager leads the planning, execution, and growth initiatives at ACCN, with responsibility for Counselling, staff management, program development, coordination, and delivery. The role combines strategic leadership, team development, direct support services, and community engagement to ensure effective, equitable, trauma-informed and culturally responsive programming aligned with ACCN’s mission.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Program Oversight
-Lead the strategic planning, execution, and evaluation of ACCN programs
-Develop and manage program budgets, work plans, and reporting mechanisms
-Support program sustainability through grant input, partnerships, and resource development
-Ensure programming is grounded in anti-oppressive, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive frameworks
Team Development & Supervision
-Recruit, onboard, and supervise program staff and volunteers where applicable
-Provide direct supervision for care conferences, other program activities, and throughout the work day
-Support ongoing staff development through training, reflective supervision, and mentorship
Program Design & Evaluation
-Use evidence, lived experience, and feedback to inform program design and delivery
-Oversee data collection, analysis, and reporting to demonstrate impact and guide improvements
-Ensure culturally relevant, community-driven, and accountable service delivery
Collaboration & External Engagement
-Promote alignment across all ACCN programs to foster integrated service delivery
-Represent ACCN in relevant sector networks, partnerships, and advocacy spaces
-Develop and maintain strategic community and institutional partnerships
Counselling Services
-Develop and maintain a comprehensive intake process for counselling services that is aligned with the PHIPA Act, applicable Ontario legislation, professional standards, and organizational policies.
-Ensure all client records, consent forms, documentation, case notes, and case management practices are accurate, current, confidential, and maintained in accordance with legislative, ethical, and regulatory requirements, including timely documentation, secure record keeping, and appropriate information sharing.
-Provide short-term counselling that promotes wellness and empowerment, in alignment with ACCN’s community-based values
-Offer supportive services and provide referrals for long-term support if needed with ACCN approved community partners
The Counsellor and Program Manager must be able to travel locally for events, school visits, and community outreach.
Qualifications
-Master of Social Work or a relevant master’s degree in Counselling, Psychology, or a related discipline, with current registration in good standing with the appropriate Ontario regulatory college for your profession.
