Join the Culinary Team at Janevca

Janevca Kitchen & Lounge is seeking an experienced and passionate Pizza Cook to join our culinary team.

Located in the historic Rosemead House in Esquimalt, Janevca offers a refined dining experience centred around exceptional ingredients, thoughtful preparation, and genuine hospitality.

We are looking for a skilled cook who understands that creating an exceptional pizza is about more than following a recipe. From properly prepared dough and quality ingredients to careful execution and presentation, consistency and attention to detail matter.

The Role

As a Pizza Cook at Janevca, you will be responsible for preparing and executing high-quality pizzas while supporting the overall operation of the kitchen.

Working as part of our culinary team, you will maintain Janevca's standards for quality, presentation, cleanliness, and consistency while contributing to a professional and collaborative kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and cook pizzas to Janevca's established recipes and quality standards.
Stretch, shape and work with pizza dough confidently and consistently.
Prepare sauces, toppings and other ingredients required for service.
Operate and maintain the pizza oven safely and effectively.
Monitor cooking temperatures and timing to achieve consistent results.
Maintain exceptional standards of food quality, presentation and portion control.
Complete daily mise en place and ensure the station is fully prepared for service.
Maintain a clean, organized and sanitary workstation.
Follow food safety, sanitation and kitchen procedures at all times.
Assist with food preparation and other kitchen duties as required.
Work collaboratively with chefs and other members of the culinary team during service.
Minimize waste and properly rotate and store ingredients.

What We're Looking For

Previous professional pizza-making experience is strongly preferred.
Experience working with fresh dough and high-temperature pizza ovens.
Strong understanding of food preparation and kitchen operations.
Ability to work efficiently and maintain quality during busy service periods.
Excellent attention to detail and consistency.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to work independently while contributing positively to the kitchen team.
A genuine interest in food, quality ingredients and culinary craftsmanship.
FoodSafe certification or willingness to obtain it.
Availability to work evenings, weekends and holidays as required.

Experience in a high-end restaurant, wood-fired kitchen or similar culinary environment is considered a strong asset.

Compensation

$26.00–$29.00 per hour, based on experience.
