UNIONIZED POSITION

Casual

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Under the supervision of the Community Events and Programs Coordinator, or designated supervisor, the Recreation Facility Attendant responds to general inquiries from facility users, assists with set up and take down of events and programs, and the opening, closing and securing of Town facilities, including but not limited to, Manuels Rivers Community Centre and the Community Lifestyle Centre. This position will work with minimal supervision.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum of Grade XII education or equivalent
Must have a Class 5 driver’s license
Valid First Aid and C.P.R. certification
Experience working in municipal or community recreation facilities such as arenas, community centres, pools, or sports complexes
Experience and skill in dealing with the public with a demonstrated customer service outlook
Knowledge of facility operations including opening and closing procedures, basic building maintenance, and cleaning standards would be considered an asset
Knowledge and understanding of recreation programming within the community
Knowledge of hazards and safety precautions involved in the work

SKILLS

Ability to perform the physical duties of the position, including lifting up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, and to follow safety protocols
Ability to operate technical systems associated with special events and programs
Ability to safely perform work under minimum supervision
Ability to communicate effectively with members of the public in a responsible and professional manner
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and productive working relationships
Ability and willingness to workday, evening and weekend hours
