Job Summary:
Macrodyne Technologies is seeking a driven Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of complex projects from initiation through completion. Reporting to the Director of Project Management, the Project Manager is responsible for driving project momentum, aligning cross-functional teams, and partnering closely with customers and internal stakeholders to define scope, manage risk, and achieve financial and delivery objectives. This role plays a critical part in ensuring projects remain commercially sound, operationally feasible, and executed with a high standard of professionalism and accountability.
Key Responsibilities:
● Lead resolution of project challenges by proposing actionable paths forward, engaging stakeholders in constructive discussions, and escalating with clear recommendations when required.
● Continually monitor and update the project scope, communicating any changes in contract terms to all team members in a timely manner.
● Collaborate with customers and the project team to develop project schedules that guarantee timely delivery.
● Participate in the initial review of project scopes and agree to project budgets, ensuring a solid foundation for project success.
● Oversee project financials, from budget development to maintaining profitability throughout the project lifecycle.
● Conduct daily reviews of project progress, identifying and addressing potential issues related to design, budget, schedule, or client relations.
● Act as a crucial intermediary among different departments to guarantee the timely procurement of materials and the delivery of Macrodyne’s machinery and equipment.
● Co-chair internal project meetings, working alongside department leaders to adhere to design specifications, schedules, and budgetary constraints.
● Evaluate new projects in conjunction with applications and department managers to distribute budgets and resources effectively.
● Provide input on the design aspects of approved project orders to ensure alignment with project goals and customer expectations.
● Ensure accurate documentation of all Research & Development activities for each project, facilitating SR&ED claim submissions.
● Participate in design review meetings to confirm adherence to the project scope.
● Approve specific project-related and departmental personnel expense reports, managing costs efficiently.
Qualifications
● Proven ability to operate effectively in dynamic environments, influence stakeholders, and make sound decisions with incomplete information while maintaining delivery timelines.
● At least 5 years of experience in project management roles specifically within the custom automation industry, showcasing a track record of successful project delivery.
● A University Degree or College Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Robotics Automation Technology, Project Management, Business Economics, or a similar field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and extensive experience.
● Strong working knowledge of contracting, negotiation, and financial principles, with the ability to apply sound business judgment to navigate ambiguity, resolve stakeholder concerns, and support timely project decisions.
● Demonstrated ability to lead resource planning and budget management while proactively addressing risks, aligning stakeholders on trade-offs, and maintaining realistic revenue and delivery expectations.
● Strong skills in MS Office suite and MS Project, enabling efficient project planning, tracking, and communication.
● A familiarity with AutoCAD and SolidWorks is considered beneficial, enhancing the ability to review project designs and collaborate more effectively with technical teams.
A Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is an asset, or actively in the process of obtaining PMP Certification, demonstrating a commitment to professional development and adherence to industry-standard project management practices.
