About the Position
Tremonte Manufacturing Welding & Ironworks Ltd. is an established structural and miscellaneous steel fabricator and installer serving high-rise residential, commercial and industrial construction throughout the GTA.
We are seeking an experienced Structural & Miscellaneous Steel Detailer / Project Manager to join our Etobicoke team.
This is a hands-on position for someone who understands steel construction from shop drawings through fabrication and installation. The ideal candidate is technically strong, organized, practical and comfortable coordinating directly with clients, consultants, our fabrication shop and site crews.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed structural and miscellaneous steel shop/fabrication drawings using AutoCAD
- Read and interpret architectural, structural and contract drawings and specifications
- Detail and coordinate structural framing, stairs, railings, guards, ladders, canopies, grating and miscellaneous steel assemblies
- Manage assigned projects from shop drawings through fabrication and site installation
- Coordinate with clients, consultants, general contractors, suppliers, subcontractors, shop personnel and site installers
- Prepare and manage RFIs, drawing revisions, site instructions and change orders
- Conduct site visits and verify field dimensions and existing conditions as required
- Coordinate material purchasing, subcontractors and project requirements
- Monitor project schedules, budgets and costs
- Review shop fabrication and site installation for quality and conformance with contract documents
- Attend project and site coordination meetings
- Identify and resolve drawing, fabrication and installation issues
- Coordinate inspections, deficiencies and project close-out
- Identify and price additional/change-order work when required
Qualifications
Required:
- 3+ years of relevant Structural and/or Miscellaneous Steel experience preferred
- Experience preparing steel shop/fabrication drawings
- Strong AutoCAD proficiency
- Ability to read and interpret structural and architectural drawings and specifications
- Practical knowledge of steel fabrication, welding, connections and installation
- Project coordination and/or project management experience
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Able to work full-time, in person at our Etobicoke facility
Assets:
- High-rise residential and commercial construction experience
- Tekla, SDS2, Advance Steel, Revit and/or Bluebeam experience
- Construction estimating and change-order experience
- Engineering or architectural technology education
- P.Eng., EIT, C.E.T. or C.Tech. designation
- Valid Ontario driver's licence
Opportunity for P.Eng. Candidates
Candidates holding a current Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) licence in Ontario may also have the opportunity to review and seal applicable steel shop/detail drawings within their professional scope for additional compensation.
Compensation & Benefits
$70,000–$110,000 per year, commensurate with relevant structural/miscellaneous steel experience and capabilities.
