Vitran is looking for a new member to join our team as a RATE ANALYST

SUMMARY:
Under general supervision from the Pricing General Manager, the Rating Analyst will be responsible to charge and/or quote clients to the point of invoicing for shipments moved through the Vitran network.
The successful candidate must be available for the day shift, preferably from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and when necessary, must fulfill other work shifts as required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:
Manage and provide rate charge services assigned to a particular portfolio (this could be Western, Central or Eastern Region).
Review and analyze pricing contracts, read rates from contracts, and apply them to shipments, to ensure invoice accuracy.
Provide audit of the internal automatic rating system, ensuring the system has charged the client correctly, and adjust shipments where necessary.
Understand cubing, linear footage, and correct application to ensure profitability by pro and by outbound trip.
Assess accessorial charges as required based off of the bill of lading, or Vitran requirements for services provided.
When required, calculate and enter provided costing to pay interline carriers.
Spot quote clients’ individual shipments as required based off pricing contracts, liaise with clients, some negotiation with clients required to ensure shipment capture.
Audit and verify bill to codes, review bill of ladings, and verify accuracy of data entry department to ensure precise invoicing is accomplished.
Occasional training of new staff members as needed.
Data analysis and manipulation using excel is required.
Other tasks as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
High school diploma required, college diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
Good knowledge of mathematics, comfort in working with numbers, and a grasp of profit and loss required (accounting skills welcomed).
Some knowledge of the transport industry preferred but not mandated.
Good reporting and analytical skills, with the ability to quickly scrutinize documents.
Competent in multitasking, and comfort working in a fast-paced environment with flexibility to changing priorities.
Must be able to work independently, and as part of a team.
Must be proficient in software programs such as Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook etc.
AS400 experience desired, but not essential.
Some speed in numerical and alphabetical keyboarding necessary
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40,000.00-$43,000.00 per year
