Who we are looking for:
Triple Eight Transport Inc. is seeking a dedicated and motivated City Dispatcher – Calgary Region to join our City Operations team. The Dispatcher – City Operations is responsible for planning and executing daily city pickup and delivery operations for the Island region. The role ensures efficient routing, driver assignment, and real-time dispatch coordination to maintain service reliability and operational efficiency.
The Dispatcher works closely with drivers, the Team Lead, and other operational teams to manage schedules, resolve operational issues, and ensure timely service execution
Key Responsibilities:
1. City Planning & Routing
- Plan daily city routes for pickups and deliveries within the assigned region.
- Optimize routing to maximize driver productivity and minimize delays.
- Ensure efficient allocation of drivers, equipment, and trailers.
- Adjust routes and schedules based on volume changes or operational needs.
2. Dispatch Execution
- Dispatch drivers and communicate route instructions and job details.
- Monitor daily operations and proactively manage delays or service disruptions.
- Update the TMS system with accurate load, route, and driver information.
- Coordinate with drivers to ensure timely completion of pickups and deliveries.
3. Driver Coordination
- Provide daily operational directions and support to assigned drivers
- Manage schedule changes, route adjustments, and operational updates.
- Ensure drivers follow company policies, safety requirements, and operational procedures.
- Escalate driver or operational issues to the City Manager when required.
4. Operational Coordination
- Coordinate with warehouse teams, customer service, and other operational departments.
- Maintain communication with the BC City Team Lead and City Manager regarding operational issues.
- Support smooth freight flow between city operations and line-haul operations.
5. Service Performance & Problem Resolution
- Monitor service performance and address operational challenges affecting deliveries.
- Escalate service risks or operational disruptions to the City Manager.
- Support operational recovery plans during service disruptions.
