Pay: From $100,000 - $150,000 with room for growth, based on experience and qualifications
Position Overview
Sparkes Subsea Construction is looking for an experienced Commercial Diving Supervisor to join our team in western Newfoundland.
This is primarily a hands-on field position supervising commercial diving and marine construction projects throughout Newfoundland and Labrador and Atlantic Canada.
We are looking for someone who can safely and efficiently lead a dive crew, organize field operations, communicate well with clients and take ownership of the job while on site.
Responsibilities
- Supervise surface-supplied commercial diving operations.
- Lead commercial diving crews, divers and tenders in the field.
- Ensure diving operations are completed safely and in accordance with applicable regulations, CSA standards and company procedures.
- Prepare and review dive plans, hazard assessments and project documentation.
- Conduct pre-job and toolbox meetings.
- Review project scopes, drawings, specifications and work procedures before starting work.
- Coordinate equipment, dive systems, tools, vehicles and vessels required for projects.
- Organize daily crew activities and keep projects moving efficiently.
- Communicate with clients and other contractors while on site.
- Complete daily reports, dive logs, project records and other required documentation.
- Monitor equipment condition and identify maintenance or repair requirements.
- Assist with project mobilization and equipment loadouts.
- Mentor and support divers within the crew.
- Assist with project planning and scheduling as experience with the company grows.
Qualifications
Applicants should have:
- Significant commercial diving experience.
- Experience supervising surface-supplied commercial diving operations.
- Current commercial diving and supervisory qualifications applicable to the work.
- Strong understanding of commercial diving safety requirements and industry best practices.
- Experience leading dive crews and field operations.
- Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to organize crews, equipment and job-site activities.
- Ability to read drawings, project scopes and work procedures.
- Strong attention to safety and documentation.
- Valid driver's licence.
- Ability and willingness to travel for projects throughout Newfoundland and Labrador and Atlantic Canada.
Experience in marine construction, underwater welding, underwater concrete, wharf construction, vessel operations, inspections or similar work would be considered an asset.
