Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and organized Medical Office Assistant/Receptionist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional front desk support and administrative assistance. This role involves managing patient appointments, handling electronic medical records, and ensuring smooth office operations within a fast-paced medical practice. Candidates with experience in medical office environments and proficiency with office software are highly preferred. The position offers an opportunity to work in a professional setting where attention to detail and excellent communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a positive first impression
Manage phone/fax system to schedule appointments, answer inquiries, and relay messages
Verify patient information and update electronic medical records accurately using Telus MedAccess EMR.
Assist with check-in and check-out procedures, including collecting patient information and occasionally processing payments.
Prepare and organize patient charts, documentation, and other administrative files
Coordinate with medical staff to facilitate patient flow and appointment scheduling
Maintain confidentiality of patient information in compliance with PHIA regulations
Handle administrative tasks such as data entry, filing, and managing correspondence
Measures blood pressure, temperature, pulse and patient weight and height when appropriate.
Cleans and stocks examining rooms and other designated areas with necessary supplies.
Ensure the reception area is clean, organized, and welcoming at all times
Directs and escorts patients to examination rooms, prepares rooms and patients for morning physicals, and clean/disinfect rooms and equipment after patient encounters
Assist with medical procedures when appropriate (preparing supplies, chaperone during sensitive examinations)

Skills

Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems such as Telus MedAccess EMR
Strong knowledge of Medical Terminology relevant to healthcare settings
Experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a Medical Office environment is a plus
Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Professional appearance and demeanor suitable for a healthcare setting

Pay: From $19.00 per hour
