Introduction
Brunel is seeking an Innu Employment Coordinator on behalf of our client to support Indigenous employment and training initiatives at the Mine Site. This position plays a central role in ensuring that Innu Nation Members receive first consideration for employment and training opportunities in alignment with strategic agreements.
The successful candidate will build strong partnerships within Innu communities, support recruitment processes, and contribute to long‑term employment success for Indigenous workers in Labrador.
Responsibilities
· Support recruitment efforts aimed at hiring Innu Nation Members for roles and training programs at the Voisey’s Bay Mine Site.
· Partner closely with Talent Acquisition teams and site contractors to identify qualified Indigenous candidates.
· Attend all interviews involving Innu candidates to help ensure comfort, accuracy, consistency, and cultural safety throughout the selection process.
· Provide translation in Innu‑aimun when required.
· Coordinate and support community‑based and onsite events in Voisey’s Bay and Innu communities.
· Build and maintain strong relationships with Innu community members to help source interested candidates.
· Identify employment barriers and support initiatives that enhance retention and long‑term success for Indigenous employees.
· Travel regularly to Innu communities to engage with schools, attend community meetings, and support discussions related to employment, environmental topics, winter shipping, and matters relevant to the Voisey’s Bay operation.
Requirements
· Must be an Innu Nation Member.
· 1-3 years’ experience in a related field, ideally within community based or employment focused roles.
· Experience working in industrial environments or fly in/fly out operations is considered an asset.
· Strong and established relationships within the Innu community.
· Fluent in English; fluency in Innu aimun is a significant asset.
· High cultural awareness and commitment to supporting Indigenous employment and education.
· Ability to work independently, manage confidential information, and communicate effectively in writing and in person.
· Knowledge of the IBA process is an asset.
· Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
· Comfortable working in remote locations, travelling frequently, and supporting operations that may require extended hours.
