Schedule:

Various shifts on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday between 10:30am and 7:30pm. Flexibility to work weekdays required.

Pay:

Starting wage is $22.00 per hour.

Position Summary:

The Prep Cook supports kitchen operations by preparing ingredients, assisting with basic cooking tasks, and maintaining a clean, organized workspace. Under the direction of kitchen leadership, this role ensures timely, high-quality meal preparation that meets resident dietary needs and food safety standards. Responsibilities include ingredient prep, plating, accommodating special diets, maintaining sanitation, assisting with service and cleanup, managing food storage and inventory, and upholding safety and health regulations in a team-oriented environment.

Qualifications Required:

Food Safe Certification – Must complete within 90 days of hire if not already completed
Food Safety & Sanitation – Knowledge of HACCP, local food safety regulations, and sanitation best practices.
High school diploma or equivalent; culinary training preferred.
1–2 years of kitchen experience (senior living a plus).
Ability to follow recipes, portion control, and menu standards.
Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
Compassionate, respectful, and professional when working with seniors.
Able to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.

Note: At Berwick we understand the importance of immunization to protect our residents, team members and visitors from COVID-19. As such, a prerequisite of employment is that all new hires are vaccinated as approved by Health Canada. A current TB test and criminal record check are also required pursuant to the Criminal Records Review Act for working with vulnerable adults.
