Overview
We are seeking a dedicated, experienced, and compassionate Floor Supervisor to join our childcare team. The Floor Supervisor will work closely with the Manager to support the smooth day-to-day operation of the centre, while providing leadership, guidance, and support to educators and ensuring a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children.
This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who is confident working with children, supporting staff, communicating with families, and helping maintain the high standards of care and professionalism expected in a licensed childcare setting.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Manager to support the daily operations of the childcare centre.
- Assist the Manager with staff scheduling, room coverage, breaks, transitions, and daily staffing needs.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and support to educators throughout the day.
- Help ensure appropriate staff-to-child ratios and licensing requirements are consistently maintained.
- Support educators with classroom routines, programming, transitions, and challenging situations.
- Help create and maintain a safe, positive, inclusive, and welcoming environment for children and staff.
- Support children with diverse needs and abilities and help ensure they are included in daily activities.
- Assist with daily caregiving routines, including feeding, diapering, toileting, sleep routines, and supervision.
- Communicate professionally with families and assist with addressing day-to-day questions or concerns.
- Support the Manager with staff communication, meetings, training, and onboarding of new educators.
- Help monitor classroom environments and ensure centre policies, procedures, and expectations are being followed.
- Assist with documentation, attendance, incident reports, and other required records.
- Help ensure the centre remains compliant with childcare licensing, health, and safety regulations.
- Identify concerns or issues that arise during the day and communicate them promptly to the Manager.
- Step into classrooms and provide hands-on support whenever needed.
- Help foster a positive, respectful, and collaborative team environment.
- Perform other duties as required to support the Manager and the overall operation of the centre.
Qualifications & Experience
- ECE or IT certification required.
- Previous experience working in a licensed childcare setting.
- Previous leadership, supervisory, or team-lead experience is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of early childhood development and childcare practices.
- Experience working with children with diverse needs and abilities.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lead and support a team while maintaining a positive and professional approach.
- Ability to work independently and make appropriate decisions when supporting the day-to-day operation of the centre.
- Strong understanding of childcare licensing, health, and safety requirements.
- Reliable, flexible, and comfortable working in a busy childcare environment.
- A genuine passion for working with children and supporting educators.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00-$32.00 per hour
