The City of Courtenay invites applications for the position of "Group Fitness Instructor”.

Fitness Instructors are responsible for delivering high-quality, engaging, and safe programs that meet the needs of participants across a range of ages and abilities.

Courtenay Rec is looking for certified and experienced indoor cycling and suspension training (TRX) instructors to lead morning and/or evening classes as required.

Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 or equivalent
Relevant certifications in accordance with industry standards (e.g. BCRPA, CanFit-Pro, ACE, NASM etc.).
OR a current membership in relevant professional organizations (e.g. BCAK, CATA, NSCA et.).
Emergency First Aid and CPR-C
Criminal Records Check with vulnerable sector
At least 5 years of continuous experience in a similar position.
Experience in customer service, recreation, human/social services or in a leadership role is preferred.
Exceptional leadership abilities
Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
Solid knowledge of fitness and strength equipment
Physical abilities to lift and carry equipment up to 45lbs
Teamwork and collaboration skills

The current hourly wage is $30.00 - $40.00 + 12.4% in lieu. This is an entry level position with opportunities for growth. Successful candidates will be required to work varying shifts, including evenings and weekends. Hours and shifts are subject to change.
