About the Comox Valley Child Development Association:

Established in 1974, the Comox Valley Child Development Association (CVCDA) is honoured to reside on the unceded traditional territories of the Pentlatch, E'iksan and K'ómoks First Nations.

The CVCDA is a dynamic, multi-service not-for-profit agency dedicated to supporting children and families with a wide-range of programs for children, youth and young adults with developmental delays and diverse abilities. Our services have spanned over 50 years in the Comox Valley and we have grown to become one the largest CDA’s on Vancouver Island.

We are seeking a candidate who will display a strong desire to be a part of the larger community contributing to the health and well being of the families and children of the Comox Valley with an understanding of the unique intricacies of a charitable non-profit organization.

Job Summary:

The successful applicant will work under the direct supervision of the Community Integration Program Lead. The position will perform recreational and social activities as part of approved plans for children with diverse abilities based on client and parent preferences, during after school hours.

Activities of the Support Worker include:

The applicant must be able to work with and establish rapport with children; be able to work independently and within a team environment and have excellent communication skills.

Qualifications:

Qualification skills include: Certification in Child and Youth Care, Human Service Worker Program, or appropriate training in Child and Youth Care and two years’ recent relevant experience in working with families and groups; valid Driver’s License (Class 4 Driver’s License also preferred), and First Aid training.

Responsibilities:

Willingness to participate in agency community engagement activities such as the annual Telethon fundraiser and community engagement
Availability to work outside of standard office hours
Vehicle that meets ICBC annual inspection standards, and valid Driver’s License

· A criminal record check will be required
