We are looking for an experienced and motivated Accounting Manager to join our Finance & Administration team. This is a key leadership role within our organization, offering the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a purpose-driven company that genuinely cares about its people — both residents and staff.
In this role, you will provide direct leadership to a team of seven accounting experts across accounts payable, revenue collection, and payroll. You will work collaboratively with the finance leadership team — reporting to the Chief Financial Officer — to uphold the integrity of our financial operations, deliver meaningful internal reporting, and build accounting capability across the organization.
What You'll Do
- Lead, mentor, and coordinate a team of seven across accounts payable, revenue collection, and payroll — setting expectations, managing performance, and fostering a culture of accountability and growth.
- Work collaboratively with the finance leadership team to ensure alignment on financial strategy, reporting priorities, and organizational goals.
- Conduct regular process audits across all accounting functions to ensure accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement — developing corrective action plans where needed.
- Design and deliver training for new accounting staff, as well as ongoing finance education for managers and administrators across the Golden Life’s locations.
- Oversee the full accounts payable cycle.
- Oversee revenue collection and accounts receivable monitoring.
- Oversee accurate and timely payroll processing.
- Maintain and enforce internal controls to protect organizational assets and financial data integrity.
- Liaise with external auditors and provide documentation and support as required.
What You Bring
Education & Credentials
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- CPA designation (or active pursuit) is a strong asset.
Experience
- 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or team lead role.
- Hands-on experience across accounts payable, revenue/AR, and payroll.
- Background in seniors' living, multi-site operations, or a hospitality environment is an asset.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency with accounting software — experience with Great Plains and/or QuickBooks Desktop is preferred.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, with advanced Excel ability; Power BI or similar reporting tools are a plus.
- Familiarity with HRIS or payroll platforms is an advantage.
