What you'll do

This is for a Full Time Regular opportunity for a Work Program Manager in the PCM Stations Programs Department within
Programs and Contracts Management. We are a team of delivery focused professionals that work with many others across
BC Hydro to deliver projects and programs with a primary focus on Generation, Substations, P&C, Telecommunications and
Dam Safety Assets. This is a multiple position posting with positions available on the following teams:

Substations Electrical – A team that specializes in the delivery of Substation Electrical Programs which includes

replacement of substation disconnects, circuit breakers, instrument transformer, surge arrestors, and other substation
electrical equipment throughout BC Hydro.

Substations Civil & Auxiliary Programs - A team that specializes in the replacement and repair of auxiliary and civil assets

within a substation environment which includes roofing, insulators, seismic upgrades, diesel generators, battery rooms,
security, HVAC, and other Auxiliary and Civil Equipment.

Generation Maintenance & Minor Capital – A team that specializes in the Program Management of Maintenance & Minor

Capital Delivery for Generation and Dam Safety Assets.

Substations Maintenance & Minor Capital – A team that specializes in the Program Management of Maintenance & Minor

Capital Delivery for Substations Electrical Assets.

P&C & Telecom – A team that specializes in the delivery of maintenance, capital and regulatory programs for Protection &

Control and Telecommunication Assets.

Civil Programs – A team that specializes in the delivery of Complex Maintenance Projects on Dam Safety Civil Assets

Hazards, Regulatory and Safety – A team that specializes in the Program Management of Asbestos Programs, PCB

Programs, Equipment Phase-Outs and Customer Metering Kits Replacements.

Reactive Equipment Programs – A team that specializes in the delivery of Maintenance, Regulatory and Capital Programs

for Substations Reactive Equipment. Work includes Power Transformer Life Extensions and Leak Repairs.

The roles includes:

Define and implement programs & projects within established budget, scope and schedule, all while meeting quality,

safety and reporting requirements using program management principles.

Work with stakeholders to plan, prioritize, estimate and schedule program work, including developing program

documentation to initiate and accomplish program objectives.

Maintain strong relationships and high levels of engagement with delivery partners to guide work from initiation through to

completion, particularly with Engineering, Operations, Powertech, Supply Chain, Environment, Indigenous Relations, and
Safety.

Oversee the work of external delivery partners for engineering, project management and construction management.

Develop, implement and manage multi-year contracts; oversee contractor performance and supplier relationship

management; approve commitments and manage finances within assigned programs.

Manage implementation of the programs and monitor progress to ensure the work is carried out in the most cost-effective

manner using program management principles. This includes reporting on forecasts, variance and risk/issues, manage
issues and program changes within governance frameworks.

Use quality assurance principles to assess completed program work and close programs.

Investigate and analyze challenging problems which may be unique to the programs, evaluate risk and apply innovative

solutions in collaboration with delivery partners.

Develop and execute strategies to maximize efficiency and delivery of programs.

Lead initiatives to improve processes and procedures related to the delivery of work across multiple programs.

Seek new technology, processes and products that will improve the delivery of current and future work.

What you bring

The successful candidate will have:

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline such as Engineering, Applied Sciences, Business or equivalent. Candidates with

alternative skillsets, and/or demonstrating a combination of education and relevant work experience may be considered.

Six or more years of progressive related experience including delivery of projects/programs or work, with experience

managing contractors (preferably in a utility, engineering or construction environment).

Well-developed communication, facilitation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills along with demonstrating planning,

organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.

Candidates with lesser experience and qualifications may be considered for a Work Program Manager In Training role.

PMP Designation is considered an asset.

Experience in compliance or regulatory environments is considered an asset.

What else you should know

This position is posted as a various headquarters role with opportunities for the successful candidates to work from

different headquarters throughout the province. As part of the screening process, shortlisted applicants will be asked to
provide a preferred headquarter. The ability to be hired into a headquarters beyond Edmonds (Burnaby) will be dependent
on business justification and space availability. BC Hydro has headquarters throughout the province including Burnaby,
Hudson’s Hope, Prince George, Fort St. John, Vernon, Kamloops, Revelstoke, Castlegar, Squamish, Victoria, Nanaimo and
Campbell River.
