Full job description

The Mental Health Clinician provides evidence-based therapeutic services to residential clients experiencing mental health and substance use challenges. Working within a trauma-informed, culturally safe, and recovery-oriented framework, this role delivers individual and group counselling, psychoeducation, and collaborative care planning throughout the client’s treatment journey.

Key Responsibilities:

Therapeutic Services:

Conduct biopsychosocial assessments and develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with clients and the clinical team.
Provide individual counselling using evidence-informed approaches such as CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, and trauma-focused therapies.
Facilitate therapeutic group sessions addressing mental health, emotional regulation, trauma, and recovery skills.
Support clients through crisis situations using de-escalation and safety planning.

Cultural Integration & Collaboration:

Integrate culturally relevant healing practices and Indigenous wellness perspectives into clinical work.
Collaborate with Elders, cultural support workers, and interdisciplinary team members on holistic care planning.
Maintain awareness of and sensitivity to the intergenerational impacts of colonization, residential schools, and systemic trauma.

Documentation & Compliance:

Maintain accurate, timely clinical notes and records in compliance with BC privacy legislation and regulatory standards.
Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and clinical supervision.
Support accreditation readiness and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.

Key Requirements:

We recognize the value of diverse educational experiences including cultural, academic, work, and lived experience.

Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work, Counselling Psychology, or a related field preferred; Bachelor’s degree with substantial clinical experience considered.
Registration with a recognized BC regulatory college (BCCSW, CCPA, CPBC, or equivalent) is required or in progress.
Minimum 2 years of post-degree clinical experience in mental health, addictions, or concurrent disorder services.
Training in trauma-focused modalities (e.g., EMDR, trauma-focused CBT, IFS) is an asset.
Experience working with Indigenous populations and knowledge of culturally safe clinical practice.
Current First Aid/CPR and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) certification.
Valid BC Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle.
Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.
Cultural humility and respect for Indigenous governance and knowledge systems.

Pay: $77,468.00-$98,422.00 per year

Creston, BC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
