Job Description:

We are seeking an individual who enjoys working in the construction industry who may have some experience in cabinetry assembling, paint booth sanding and spraying and some knowledge working with corian.

Operating for over 30 years in Mount Uniacke, NS, Custom Millwork Atlantic Inc., has built a solid reputation for producing the highest quality custom cabinetry, architectural woodwork, and custom mouldings/trim for high end commercial, and retail spaces. This position is for someone who enjoys creating products such as cabinets, furniture, wood doors and frames, reception desks, wall panels, washroom vanities, and much more!

The work you will do:

We are seeking an individual who has an interest in learning about the business from the ground up. This individual would be someone who can assist (when needed) in the corian department and/or prepping material for the sanding/paint booth. FIT TESTING WILL BE REQUIRED (which means clean shaven ) is a must.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is detail-oriented and who takes pride in delivering high-quality craftsmanship and working on custom projects.

Knowledge of solid surface fabrication for countertops and architectural features would be an asset as you could be sanding/polishing corian daily.
Review architectural drawings, shop drawings, plans, and speciﬁcations.
Ability to select appropriate materials, including wood, hardware and tops.
Assembly of cabinetry
Measure, cut, shape, and prepare materials using hand tools, power tools, and machinery is an asset.
Ensure all pieces meet design speciﬁcations, quality standards, and safety requirements.
Assist with loading/unloading trucks and handle construction materials with forklift (when needed).
Clean and lubricate machinery and equipment and perform basic regular maintenance on a daily basis (if working with any of the machinery) .
Follow all safety procedures and promote a safe work environment.
Strong knowledge of woodworking techniques, tools, and materials is an asset.
Ability to read and interpret Shop drawings, blueprints, sketches, and design speciﬁcations is an asset.
Knowledge with woodworking machinery required.
Physical ability to lift heavy materials and stand for extended periods.
Ability to work independently or in a teamwork environment required.
Must have valid driver’s license and reliable transportation, as public transportation is not available.
Must be willing and able to successfully achieve WHMIS, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) training certiﬁcates
Tools & Equipment you may use:
Computerized woodworking and computer numerical control (CNC) machines, Edge bander, drill and dowel inserting machine, case clamp, drills, routers, sanders, saws, hand tools, sliding table saw, air compressors, nail guns, air guns
Shop environment with possible outside work
Fast paced, deadline driven schedule
Regular exposure to dust and noise
Standing for extended periods
Tasks require manual dexterity
Regularly lifting/carrying up to 50lbs and occasionally up to 100lbs with assistance
40 hours per week. Present dayshifts are Monday to Thursday 7:30am to 5:00pm, Fridays 7:30am to 12:00pm with possibility of overtime during high peaks of production.
