Position Description:
As a Welder/ Fabricator, you will prepare parts, weld and polish using various processes and finishing operations to manufacture products to customer drawings, specifications and other forms of instruction. You will also fabricate, assemble, install and repair sheet metal products and equipment.
Essential Job Functions
· Read engineering and architectural drawings, sketches and work specifications to be performed, and lay out, measure and mark sheet metal according to drawings or templates.
· Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications
Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW), flux cored arc welding (FCAW) and shielded metal arc welding (SMAW).
Operate manual or semi-automatic flame cutting, brazing and soldering equipment.
Operate metal working machines such as saws, grinders, shears, brakes, punches and drill presses to cut, bend, punch, drill, shape or straighten sheet metal.
Fit and join sheet metal parts using riveting, welding, soldering and similar equipment to fabricate products.
Grind and buff seams, joints and rough surfaces.
Inspect product quality and installation to ensure conformance to specifications.
Ensure assigned work is understood before commencing.
Accurately complete work order paperwork.
Assist with the maintenance and repair of welding, brazing and soldering equipment.
Install and use rigging and hoisting equipment.
Non-essential Job Functions
· Assist with general shop duties as required
Requirements
Possess a solid understanding of the welding process, welding equipment and other metal working tools and machines.
Experience working with hand tools and measuring equipment in both metric and imperial.
Very organized with attention to detail.
Creative problem-solving skills.
The ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
The ability to work individually and within a team.
Shop hours required are Monday thru Thursday from 7:00am to 5:15pm. Some travel and overtime may be required.
Will be working indoor/outdoor in all types of weather.
Safety gear must be worn where designated. Steel toe boots/shoes are required at all times. Safety glasses and ear protection provided by Specialty Steel.
Pay: $23.00-$25.00 per hour
