The Role

Our Heavy Duty Mechanic plays a critical role in keeping BlackStar moving.

You won’t just be fixing equipment — you’ll be protecting uptime, supporting operations, and contributing directly to the performance and morale of the field teams who rely on you.

This is a high-impact role in a fast-paced environment where reliability, communication, and pride in workmanship matter.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair heavy equipment and fleet vehicles
Perform preventative maintenance to reduce downtime and protect assets
Inspect and service loaders, excavators, trucks, and specialized equipment
Ensure all equipment meets safety and operational standards
Maintain accurate documentation of work performed and parts used
Communicate clearly with Operations and field teams on equipment status
Contribute ideas to improve shop efficiency and fleet reliability

What We’re Looking For

Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic Certification (or equivalent experience)
Proven experience with heavy equipment and fleet maintenance
Strong diagnostic and problem-solving ability
Ability to read technical manuals and schematics
Proficiency with diagnostic tools and shop equipment
Valid driver’s license (Class 3 with air endorsement is an asset)
Commitment to workplace safety and OH&S compliance
Strong communication and organizational skills

Schedule & Details

Full-Time, Permanent
Monday to Friday
12-hour shifts
Weekends as required

Experience:

Minimum 5 years mechanical experience preferred

Licensing:

Class 3 or 1
Journeyman / Trade Certificate (preferred)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40.00-$45.00 per hour

Expected hours: 50 – 60 per week
