Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Ocean Import Coordinator to join our client's logistics team in Richmond, BC. This role is essential for managing the seamless import/export of ocean freight, ensuring timely delivery, and maintaining strong relationships with clients and carriers. The ideal candidate will possess experience in supply chain operations, a minimum of 2+ years of experience in ocean import/export or freight forwarding operations, negotiation skills, and familiarity with freight management systems such as Logitude. This role ensures timely movement of cargo, accurate documentation, customs compliance, and effective communication with overseas agents, carriers, customs brokers, trucking companies, and customers. This position offers an opportunity to work within a dynamic environment focused on optimizing international shipping processes and enhancing customer satisfaction.
We offer a competitive salary package of $50,000–$55,000 based on experience, along with a $2,000 annual medical reimbursement program and 2 weeks vacation.
Duties
- Coordinate and oversee ocean import shipments from origin to destination, ensuring compliance with all customs and regulatory requirements
- Preparing and reviewing shipping documents, invoices, and arrival notices
- Manage communication with carriers, customs brokers, warehouses, terminals and clients to facilitate smooth freight movement
- Negotiate rates and service terms with carriers and 3PL providers to optimize cost-efficiency and service quality
- Maintain accurate data entry related to shipment details, tracking information, and documentation within supply chain management systems
- Arranging delivery appointments and inland transportation
- Monitor shipment status, resolve issues proactively, and provide regular updates to clients regarding delivery timelines
- Ensuring compliance with customs regulations and company procedures
- Collaborate with sales management teams to identify opportunities for process improvements and new business development
- Utilize knowledge of B2B sales, freight logistics, and supply chain operations to support overall business growth
Experience
- Proven 2+ years of experience in freight forwarding, supply chain management, or logistics coordination, specifically in ocean import operations
- Knowledge of ocean import procedures, customs processes, and transportation coordination is preferred.
- Strong negotiation skills with a track record of securing favorable rates and service agreements
- Familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) tools and the freight forwarding system Logitude
- Knowledge of 3PL services, B2B sales processes, and account management practices within the logistics industry
- Experience working with supply chain software platforms and managing complex shipments in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with internal teams, carriers, customs authorities, and clients
- Ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in documentation and compliance requirements
This is a full-time, in-person position based in the office Monday to Friday, from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. We are looking for someone who is reliable and professional and thrives in a fast-paced team environment.
Pay: $50,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
