This full-time position is based at Downey Home Hardware at 1106 Cleveland avenue, Riverview, New Brunswick.
Job Description:
The Delivery-Helper Person is responsible for delivering products and/or supplies to customers, vendors, jobsites, or other corporate locations. Duties include operating freight handling equipment, maintenance and operation of company vehicle, verification of administrative paperwork, and working with the public at large. The delivery-Helper must safely perform all assigned tasks with sufficient speed and accuracy to avoid adverse impact on the level of customer service.
Responsibilities:
- Move heavy and bulky merchandise for customers and for sales personnel.
- Handling drywall, interior doors, and molding deliveries.
- Advise supervisor of shortage and damaged goods.
- Do odd jobs and run errands.
- Perform light vehicle maintenance (check oil, tires, etc.).
- Check delivery documents for EXACT order (checked and double checked by Gate Person).
- Report on company vehicle maintenance and safety.
- Prepare trucks for loading and assist warehouse staff as required.
- Ensure proper vehicle maintenance and safety.
- Maintain contact with dispatch and work to resolve any issues.
- Verify load security and accuracy.
- Report defects, violations, accidents, or injuries.
- Act professionally always.
- Follow all regulations, company policies, and procedures.
- Ensuring the working area is clean (trucks, yard, and warehouse).
- Additional duties as required by manager.
Skills and Qualifications:
- High School graduation or equivalent.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with customers, management, other employees, in person, by telephone, or by FM radio.
- Clean Drivers Abstract – Will reimburse upon hire.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions, fast-paced, and dynamic workplace.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Safety mindset.
- High attention to detail.
- Ability to work flexible schedule including weekends and evening.
- Must be able to visually verify content of shipments.
- Experience in the home improvement industry is advantageous.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Able to handle physical work.
- Functional knowledge of merchandising, operations, and retail management.
- Computer experience/Technical aptitude.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Team player.
- Attention to detail.
- Bilingualism (French and English) is an asset.

o Reports directly to the Downey Logistics Manager
