Location: Bluewater District School Board Education Centre, Chesley
Commencing: September 1, 2026 until June 30, 2027. Following completion of this term, the position may be extended dependent on mutual agreement and the continuation of Ministry funding.

Position Summary:
The primary literacy teacher will work with individual, and groups of primary students to provide reading screener, reading instruction, intervention, and support. The primary literacy teacher will collaborate with and support teachers in implementation of a structured literacy program.

Duties And Responsibilities:

Provide direct reading instruction and intervention (including phonological awareness, decoding and sight reading, based on the Structured Literacy) for individual or small groups of primary students;
- Gather and analyze pre- and post-data to measure outcomes including reading screener;
- Collaborate with primary teachers in implementation of a structured primary literacy program;
- Research and investigate evidence-based practices related to reading and literacy related initiatives;
- Written communication and updates;
- Communicate regularly with school-based staff, administrators, and the Learning Services team; and,
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications And Experience
- A teacher in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers;
- Primary qualifications required.
Assets:
- A theoretical understanding of a structured literacy program;
- Experience implementing a structured reading program, including understanding of the five components of reading, and use of decodable texts in the classroom, based on the Science of Reading;
- Ability to plan instruction based on assessment results;
- Strong teamwork skills;
- Excellent oral and written communication;
- Excellent interpersonal skills;
- Strong organizational skills;
- Special Education qualifications.
- A teacher in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers;
- Primary qualifications required.

- Access to a reliable vehicle;
- Eligible to work in Canada;
- A valid Ontario driver’s license;
Clean vulnerable sector police check.
