UNDERCARRIAGE PRESS OPERATOR – Work Hard, Play Hard!

Spruce Grove – 7/7 Rotation

Heavy Metal Equipment & Rentals is searching for experienced Undercarriage Press Operators for our NEW positionsto join our growing maintenance and component rebuild team supporting in Spruce Grove.

These positions exist as a result of continued growth and increased demand for high-quality component rebuilds and heavy equipment support services.

Undercarriage Press Operators play a critical role in supporting the reliability and performance of Heavy Metal’s fleet by rebuilding, assembling, and maintaining undercarriage components to OEM standards. This position is ideal for individuals who take pride in precision work, mechanical skill, and contributing directly to equipment uptime in a high-performance mining environment.

An excellent Undercarriage Press Operator will:

Be self-motivated and detail-oriented with the ability to work independently and as part of a team in a shop environment.
Ensure SAFETY is the TOP priority in all tasks, following procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, and Heavy Metal safety standards.
Build and maintain strong working relationships with mechanics, supervisors, planners, and shop leadership.
Demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude in the disassembly, inspection, repair, and assembly of undercarriage components.
Take pride in producing high-quality workmanship that meets or exceeds OEM specifications.
Go the extra mile during peak workloads or urgent rebuild requirements to support equipment availability.
Exhibit strong organizational skills in managing components, tooling, documentation, and rebuild tracking.
Maintain a clean, efficient, and professional work environment in the shop.

Based in Spruce Grove, you’ll work a 7/7 rotation in a safety-first environment. Shifts are 12 hours long, starting at 6:00 am. There may be potential to work nights.

As an Undercarriage Press Operator, you will be expected to:

Perform safe operation of hydraulic presses and related tooling used in undercarriage rebuilds.
Disassemble, inspect, and assemble track chains, rollers, idlers, and sprockets.
Identify wear patterns, defects, and components requiring replacement or machining.
Ensure all rebuilt components meet quality control and OEM standards.
Support preventative maintenance and rebuild schedules to ensure equipment availability.
Work collaboratively with shop technicians, planners, and supervisors to meet production targets.
Maintain accurate records of rebuilds, inspections, and parts usage.

What We’re Looking For:

Strong commitment to safe work practices and the ability to follow structured procedures.
Previous experience in heavy equipment (D6 - D11, EX1200 - EX1900, PC2000), mining, or industrial shop environments.
Mechanical aptitude with experience in hydraulic presses or component rebuild work is considered a strong asset.
Familiarity with undercarriage systems for dozers, excavators, and haul support equipment.
Ability to operate steam bay equipment, wash components, and prepare parts for repair
Ability to read and interpret work instructions and technical specifications.
Strong attention to detail and quality control mindset.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Demonstrated ability to pass a respiratory fit test, meet fitness standards, and handle 50 lbs
Clean Driver's Abstract and Advanced Class 5 License
